Every Day is a Rural Day in Oregon
Rural leaders, advocates, entrepreneurs, and community members from throughout the state gathered at the Oregon State Library in Salem on April 4 for Rural Oregon Day 2017. Organized by the Oregon Rural Development Council (ORDC), the event was an opportunity for attendees to connect with one another, inform programs and policies, and share information regarding rural community successes and needs. The day included remarks from Governor Brown and other speakers, including Anne Kubisch, President of The Ford Family Foundation; Erubiel Valladares Carranza II, RDI board member and City of Independence Community Liaison; and Senator Arnie Roblan.
The theme of the day was "Every Day is a Rural Day in Oregon," with a focus on innovation. After the day's agenda, attendees met with legislators to advocate for community issues that impact rural areas across the state, including transportation, housing, economic development, and more.
